Shorebox is a subscription box for zero-waste products. Each month we put together a box of four eco-friendly items to help our subscribers reduce their plastic waste. Every product we feature is free from single-use plastic, and can be either composted or recycled — including its packaging.

We also have an online plastic-free shop where we stock more eco-friendly goodies. Subscribers get 10% off every order!

You’ll receive four zero-waste items per box, and every month you get to choose one of them from a choice of two.

The products range from toiletries, to items for the kitchen, things to take with you when out-and-about, homeware, and much more!

Feel rest assured that every product we feature in our boxes and shop is zero-waste, cruelty-free, and the majority of the time vegan — we offer vegan-friendly alternatives for our vegan subscribers.

We select products from small businesses who are passionate about producing high quality, eco-friendly goods, and who have high environmental standards themselves — whether that’s sourcing ingredients sustainably or ensuring Fair Trade. If a product is zero-waste, no element of it has to be put in your rubbish bin. That means the entire product, including its packaging, can either be composted or recycled. The goal of zero-waste is for no rubbish to be sent to landfills. Landfill sites are seriously harming the environment, so the less we add to them, the better.

Zero-waste products are also free from unrecyclable plastic — which is a huge burden on natural environments, particularly the ocean. There are more than 5 trillion pieces of plastic littering the ocean, including a plastic island that’s twice the size of Texas. As a result, millions of marine animals die each year, mostly from mistaking plastic for food and ingesting it.

Switching to zero-waste products means your shopping choices won’t have a negative effect on the environment. You’ll reduce the amount of rubbish you throw away, and as you introduce more zero-waste products into your life, your plastic footprint will significantly shrink.

Our subscription costs £14.99 + £3.00 postage each month.

When you first subscribe, we process your payment immediately. For your following boxes, we take payment on the 1st of the month.

However, if you subscribe within the last seven days of the 1st day of the following month, you won’t be charged until the 1st. This is because you will receive next month’s box instead. The deadline to order the box for the month you’re currently in is eight days before the 1st of the following month. 

We send our boxes out on the 5th day of the month — woop! Please allow 3-5 working days for your box to arrive.

If this is your first box…

and you’ve subscribed after the 1st of the month, you’ll receive it within 3-5 working days from the day we receive your order. You’ll then join our delivery cycle with the rest of your fellow subscribers. 

and you’ve subscribed within seven days before the 1st day of the following month, you will join our delivery cycle. So you’ll receive your box 3-5 working days from the 5th of each month. 

Each month you get to choose one of your products in your box. Don’t worry, if you forget we’ll choose for you — we’ll always send you a vegan option. 

After your first box, make sure you pick your product by the 1st of each month.

Here’s how to do it:

Step 1: Head to My Account.

Step 2: Select “My Subscription” on the left-hand side. On mobile, scroll down once you’ve selected “My Subscription” to see the next options.  

Step 3: Select “Choose Product”.

Step 4: Choose your product from the drop down menu.

Step 5: Select “Add to Basket”. 

Step 6: Go to your Shopping Cart and complete checkout. You won’t be charged, this will just submit your choice to us.

You will see a confirmation screen and receive an email. 

We know this process is a bit clunky, and we’re working on improving it. Thanks for your patience!

Please note, that if you view your subscription in “My Subscription” (in “My Account), it may not always show correctly which product you’ve selected (sometimes it shows the product you received last month). But as long as you’ve chosen the product that you want, we will receive the correct information!

No! There are no hidden fees, including no cancellation fee.

*sad violin music* We’re sorry you’re thinking of leaving! To cancel, go to My Account (the icon on the far right of the navigation bar at the top), select “Subscriptions”, and then select “Cancel”.

Please be aware that if you cancel after the 1st of the month, you will still be charged for and receive next month’s box. Your cancellation will become effective the following month. Please make sure you cancel before the 1st of the month to avoid this.

Please make sure you cancel your subscription before the 1st of the month you intend to cancel. For example, if you don’t want the August box, cancel by 1st August. This ensures you won’t be charged and receive the next box.

You will only be charged if you didn’t cancel before the 1st of the month. After that, you won’t be charged again.

Please make sure you update your delivery address by the 5th of the month. To change your addresses. head to to My Account (the icon on the far right of the navigation bar at the top), select “Addresses” on the left hand side, and then select “edit”.

Please make sure you update your payment details by the 1st of the month. Change your payment details by heading to My Account  (the icon on the far right of the navigation bar at the top), selecting “Subscriptions”, and then selecting “Change Payment”.

We only accept refunds for unopened subscription boxes which have the paper tape fully in tact. If your box has been opened, we are not able to issue a refund.

We are happy to replace any damaged items after photographic evidence has been provided.

To make a return, please get in touch with us via hello@shorebox.co.uk, where we will provide you with a return address. The item(s) should be returned to us at the address given. We strongly recommend that you send the item(s) by Royal Mail Special Delivery (or an equivalent “signed for” delivery service) to ensure proof of postage.

You can come back any time by logging into your account (with the email address you used to subscribe), and then clicking “Resubscribe” under the “My Subscriptions” section. That’s it!

If you deleted your account details, you will just need to add the subscription to your Shopping Cart, and checkout like a normal online shop transaction. 

For the time being, we only deliver to the UK. Sign up to our mailing list to find out when this might change! 

Yes, but please note that your item(s) must be unused and in their original condition to receive a refund. We will not provide a full refund if the goods show signs of unreasonable use. In such circumstances, we will notify you that a reduced refund amount will be available, or you can choose to arrange for such goods to be returned to you within 28 days of our notification.

As you’d expect, our own packaging is plastic-free! We use cardboard boxes (at least 40% recycled cardboard), paper tape (plastic-free, rubber adhesive), recycled paper stuffing, and a paper postcard. Any ink used is non-toxic. This is the same for our online shop packaging.
